Hockey7 has been very popular in other parts of the country for a long time. And since 2022, the Northern region has also been participating in this new form of competition. Especially for people who prefer not to be tied to obligations on weekends but still want to play matches, Hockey7 is the solution.

The matches are (generally) played every other week on a weekday evening. This involves 5 rounds within a period of 3 months. Per evening you play 2 matches of 25 minutes per match. Only the Friesland region plays on Thursday evening, in all other regions the 7×7 matches are played on Friday evening.

The principles of Hockey7 are:

• Fixed teams of 7 against 7: men only, women only or mixed teams;
• Play according to the indoor rules (no hitting, no high play, only high pushing on goal);
• Once every 2 weeks;
• The pool plays as a whole on 1 club per evening. Each club is the home club for one evening per period;
• There are 4 periods, autumn, winter, spring and summer. Teams can join each period. Teams can also choose not to participate in a period;
• Players must be members of the KNHB;
• The game is played on half a field without a goalkeeper and without referees.
