juniors

Just like with the Youngest Youth, fun, personal and team development are also paramount with the Juniors. On top of that, achieving a good performance as a team is of course absolutely fantastic.

Age categories

The juniors of GHBS are players in the O12, O14, O16 and O18 age categories, as determined by the KNHB. From the age of 10 (turned 10 before October 1, ditto for the other age categories) the children play in the Under 12 category, from the age of 12 in the Under 14 category, from the age of 14 in the O16 category and from the age of 16 in the O18 category. After that you can register with the seniors committee to play hockey in a men's or women's team.

Layout

From the O12 youth, GHBS has training and broad teams. The youth team committee (ETC) is responsible for the division of the broad teams and the performance manager for the division of the training and selection teams (MO18-1, JO16-1, etc.). The division of all teams usually takes place in the months of May-June.

Our O12 youth are divided based on motor skills and drive and the focus is on challenging, developing technique, playing and fun. We have 3 training teams for girls and 2 training teams for boys. The other teams are broad teams.

In the girls' line, we have 3 training teams and 1 selection team in the O14 youth, below that come the broad teams. From the O16 age, a distinction is increasingly made between social hockey and performance hockey. From that moment on, we only have 1 training team in the O16 and 1 selection team. In the O18 we only have 1 selection team. In the boys' line, this differs per year, because unfortunately fewer boys play hockey and we have to provide customization here.

Competitions and guidance

The junior matches take place on Saturdays on a full field. The starting times and location are in the LISA app. For the broad teams, the matches are always refereed by their own youth referees who are in possession of a KNHB referee card. The arbitration committee takes care of this. For the selection teams, referees are sometimes appointed by the KNHB.

A team may only participate in the competition (indoor and field) if a coach has been registered. For the broad teams, this must be one of the parents. In the training teams, we as a club try to arrange as many trainers/coaches as possible, but it may happen that a parent is also needed as a coach. For the selection teams, a coach is appointed by the club.

Trainings

GHBS facilitates one complete team training with trainer for all broad teams in the juniors. In addition, there is 1 carousel training in the Under 12 and Under 14 youth. In this, multiple teams train simultaneously in small groups and mainly on technical skills. For the O16 and O18 youth, there is the possibility to train a second time a week on 2 days. They must register for these training sessions. They can therefore train 2 or 3 times a week or only participate in the team training. That is flexible. There is also the possibility to play games on Friday by registration.

The training teams train in the O12 line twice a week and from O14 onwards training and selection teams train 2.5 times a week. One week 3 times, the other week 2 times.

Information eveningAt the start of the season, an information evening is organised for the guidance of the junior teams (coaches, managers). During that evening, the course of events surrounding the training and competition of the juniors is discussed and, among other things, the various committees (junior committee, arbitration, indoor hockey, goalkeepers and goalkeeper materials) present themselves. Indoor hockeyAt GHBS, indoor hockey is an important part of the hockey season. More than 45 youth teams and several senior teams, including Ladies 1 and Men 1, stay top fit during the winter months in this way. Below you will find general information about the indoor hockey season from mid-November:
